Human creations and unbridled ingenious overconfidence always enter into dialogue or fight with the purity and untameable power of nature.
This is the starting point of the sculptures that Luc De Man creates in various materials such as wood, marble and steel. The primal forces, nature and organic forms are reduced to a sphere, while human activity is recovered in the ultimate pursuit of the perfect cube.
Observation of nature and man and the search for the balance between the two are at the basis of the ‘Cubes’ series.
Man creates, but nature leaves its mark. The path taken in the creative process is unmistakably present in the end result as a reform of history into a reflection on the future.
